ABOUT ME

My first experience of live performance was in a small town in New Zealand. A flamenco dancer died on stage, and my friend, overcome by what she was witnessing, screamed out for an ambulance. Nobody needed one. But I understood completely.

In 1986, I came to London for the first time. The world was in the immediate shadow of Chernobyl, a particular kind of fear was in the air. And then I saw Elaine Paige in Chess. My heart never really left.

I have lived across four continents (Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe) and those years of moving between cultures, languages and perspectives have shaped everything about how I watch theatre. I am drawn to productions that open windows onto lives beyond our own. By day I work in education, ensuring children encounter stories from everywhere, not just the places they already know. This blog is the same instinct, applied to the stage.

Red Bus Londinium started in 2023 with a simple conviction: that London’s theatre scene is one of the most extraordinary in the world, and that too many people feel it isn’t for them. The affordable ticketing section of this blog matters as much to me as the reviews themselves. Knowing where to look, the right membership scheme, the right lottery, the right day of the week, can be the difference between someone discovering a show that changes how they see the world, and never finding it at all.

PRs and venues are very welcome to get in touch.
