Shoreditch Town Hall is 160 this year and is celebrating with 16 Acts, a one-night-only variety show on Friday 9 October. The building opened in 1866 and was licensed as a music hall in the 1880s, with comedy, songs, dancing and social commentary on the bill, and the evening is a nod back to that tradition. The birthday event is hosted by cabaret duo Bourgeois & Maurice, and the acts, from cabaret and clowning to spoken word, drag and experimental performance, have all performed or developed work at the venue over the years.
The line up includes line-up including Le Gateau Chocolat, Lucy McCormick, The Cocoa Butter Club, Pecs Drag Kings, Frankie Thompson, Riss Obolensky, Fanny Bleach, Emma Frankland and Operotica, The celebrations starts at 7.30pm at 380 Old Street and run for 180 minutes including two intervals.
Tickets are £16 to £22, with the first 160 at £16 to match the anniversary, and you can book at https://shoreditchtownhall.com/whats-on/16-acts.
