SeatPlan have launched a very useful new tool where you can compare shows, ticket prices and seat views in one search, they gave me a voucher so I could try it out and let everyone know how it went.
SeatPlan has always been a favourite site of Red Bus Londinium. We first published an article in 2023, highlighting the feature where you can load up your own photos and receive points that you can turn into vouchers for future theatre trips. I am a high personal user, at last count I have enjoyed £250 worth of SeatPlan vouchers from my own photos.
SeatPlan is also very helpful for working out whether the price / value ratio of seats seems right for you, with its extensive library of photos and comments. This means you can work out which restricted seats are so restricted you’d rather stay home and which offer a bargain which means you can actually get into the room. Or equally, which of those more expensive seats are worth the splurge on for a special occasion.
It was super exciting then to find out that SeatPlan have launched a tool where you can compare shows, ticket prices and seat views in one search. This streamlines the process of looking show by show or date by date. It is especially helpful for those times when you have a friend in town and think, “what can we afford at the theatre right now?” because you have a price limit and want to know what’s out there.
My son and I decided to give it a try together. We found it is easy to use and simple to assess our options.
Here is our journey:
Step One: Choose your date (and show if you want)
You can specify a particular show at this point or you can just see what is in your price bracket.
We decided to just look at a day a couple of days out and set a price limit and see what came our way.
Step Two: Set any additional parameters
You can tailor your choices to help you find only tickets you will find acceptable. We fancied a matinee. You can also specify sections, view and legroom ratings and runtime. (We’re not too fussy, so left these blank).
Step Three: View your choices
All valid choices and prices will be displayed with a view of the suggested seat displayed. Several shows might fit your needs.
You can scroll down and see if anything takes your fancy! We decided to go for The Comedy About Spies.
Step Four: View your proposed seat
You can click through to examine the suggested seats, including their images and any SeatPlan reviews. You have the freedom to alter the selected seats at this point, including to something that costs more or is in a different section. We thought the suggestion looked pretty good so stuck with it.
Step Five: Purchase your ticket
Purchase your ticket, all ready for the show!
Note those 120 SeatPlan points, these can work toward a voucher for your next show. (800 points = £10 SeatPlan voucher).
You can also upload seat pictures after the show for further points.
Step Six: Attend the show
We had a great time at The Comedy About Spies – it’s so funny. The seats were just what we expected and we were really happy with our purchase.
