Abba Voyage: tips and thoughts

Abba Voyage is a ground-breaking spectacle and it would be remiss of me to suggest any less. The use of technology to recreate an Abba concert experience is nothing short of ground-breaking and almost impossible to wrap your head around.

There are some changes I would have preferred – fewer slow songs, no songs that we don’t all know but when you are seeing something so brand new, so experimental and – above all – so expensive, it seems churlish to complain.

We went on a Monday night and the crowd on the dance floor were pretty flat. Maybe try later in the week and it might be livelier?

We tried both walking routes from Stratford – via Stratford High Street and through Olympic Park. They were fine in a group but very, very isolated for wide stretches. If you are travelling alone, definitely take the DLR to Pudding Lane which is right outside.

Snoozebox opposite looked fun for an after-party and you can even sleep here in shipping box container size rooms.

Food and drink inside the arena was not as bad as usual theatre prices but hearty and filling. e.g. I had wedges, a vegan burrito and a can of cider for £14.95 and both wedges and burrito were hugely generous.

Not many people dressed up but enough that you won’t feel out of place (and you might have more fun).

The whole arena is really well organised. Toilet and cloakroom queues were very speedy and lots of helpful staff everywhere.
