Tarantino Live, Riverside Studios ***

Tarantino Live is an immersive (but not interactive) musical montage of Tarantino films played in a cabaret setting at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. It has played to sell-out crowds in the US and is playing in London for much of the summer.

Show materials tell you that we will see the “Fox Force Five” — a group of fierce superwomen made up of five of Quentin Tarantino’s most iconic female characters — as they take on the Tyranny of Evil Men in an epic battle of revenge and redemption. It is also clear that their will be scenes and songs from the films.

FAQs suggest that you do not have to have seen the films to attend.

The cast, led by George Maguire, are exemplary and it is a powerful and entertaining night. The staging is very clever, especially the use of the screen behind. It is exciting and well performed.

That said, we were confused by much of it. I have seen a few Tarantino films many years ago, my son had seen one, and we enjoyed each individual scene but were not able to pick up any wider thread.

People in front of us, who had paid for Mr Black seating and were enjoying seat service for their drinks, clearly knew every number and were having a blast.

I would suggest that if you are a Quentin Tarantino fan, you will have an amazing night at this show. If you are not, maybe have a couple of movie nights in first?
